PROVARIO 50 generator from PROVOTEC - Production will be discontinued |

The decision, to discontinue the production of the PROVARIO 50 generator from PROVOTEC, which was developed based on the Picker generator, was not easy for us. The PROVARIO 50 is well established in the market. It is renowned and appreciated as a reliable generator for standard radiography applications.
Changed norms, like the RoHS directive of the EU caused the discontinuation of particular important components for the generator. Thus, a complete redesign would be necessary. However, from an economic point of view this investment is hardly justifiable. That’s why PROVOTEC decided to produce the last PROVARIO 50 generator in Mai 2010.
It goes without saying that you can rely on PROVOTEC’s spare parts supply and service support for already existing installations.

Certainly we will continue to offer a complete range of x-ray products as well as accessories. In the future we will even provide a choice of generators. Therefore we have settled a cooperation agreement with K & S Röntgenwerk Bochum.
The following PROTEC / PROVOTEC generators, manufactured for us by K & S Röntgenwerk in Bochum as OEM-products, will be available:
- PROVARIO HF 40
- PROVARIO HF 50
- PROVARIO HF 60
Despite the discontinuation of the PROVARIO 50 generator we are now able to offer an expanded range with additional alternatives on the market!

MEDICA 2009: Premiere at the PROTEC booth & anniversary of Medica |

According to official statements 138.000 visitors came to this year’s 40th edition of the world’s largest medical exhibition Medica in Düsseldorf.
At the exhibition’s anniversary PROTEC for the first time ever had two booths in hall 12, showing our own products as well as those of our subsidiary company PROVOTEC. The feedback from the more than 300 visitors at the PROTEC booth was overwhelmingly positive. This shows that the addition of PROVOTEC’s product line to ours was another important step towards strengthening our market position. We thank all visitors for their interest and look forward to a successful cooperation.

| Now available: the new PROPAXX medical imaging software |

Shown as basic concept in a prototype version at the ECR, the PROPAXX medical imaging software is available for sale now. This „mini-PACS“ for CR- and DR-images, like CONAXX, a 100% PROTEC-made product, has features that are state of the art software technology.

Compared to the previous PROMIS software, PROPAXX additionally offers e.g. various windowing functions, panning, region windowing or the use of work queues.
Other special features of PROPAXX are the integrated interface for writing clinical findings, the simultaneous view of x-ray images in the digital light box from the same window and zoom perspective.

We would especially like to emphasize the new user model that PROPAXX has to offer:
By means of „floating licenses“ of the PROPAXX Net module, more individual flexibility is provided, independent of the specific diagnostic workplace. The customer can use the PROPAXX viewer on several computers (not at the same time) and can save the investment in additional PROPAXX viewers.

We are glad that our RAPIXX DR-flatpanel packages have been so successful in such a short time.
From the initial presentation at the MEDICA and actual sales start beginning 2009, we have sold 20 RAPIXX installations in connection with the CONAXX DR-version as a retrofit solution for existing x-ray units.
Our special thanks to those PROTEC sales partners who had recognized this market niche for this product segment very early, and were consequently able to celebrate their early success in selling our DR-systems!

Besides the various installation-options in the human field and the stationary installed panels in the veterinary field, we can now in addition offer a portable vet panel from VaTech. With the CONAXX-DR-Software in VET-version, simple, user-friendly handling and highly flexible panel applications are combined.
Furthermore, we are glad to inform you of a considerably shortened lead time of our RAPIXX 43 WiFi DR-flatpanel. Now this wireless-system is available within approx. 4 weeks. We intend to have corresponding stock reserves for short-term orders. This leads to quick availability.

Since we have acquired the majority share-holding of PROVOTEC, PROTEC is responsible for marketing and sales of PROVOTEC products. Within the framework of this engagement our strategy is to focus on the following core product segments:
PROVOTEC complete x-ray systems
The PROVOTEC product range offers complete systems for analog/conventional x-rays as well as for fully digital solutions.
In the analog segment the PRS 500 Radiography system offers an attractive complete package consisting of 50 KW-generator, x-ray tube assembly, bucky table and vertical bucky stand.
For the digital segment we offer the PEDS 600 DR-rotary arm system which includes the 50kW-generator, the x-ray tube assembly, the rotary arm stand as well as the DR-flatpanel with CONAXX software (flatpanel and software: see RAPIXX 4343M).

PROVOTEC as component supplier
Next to complete x-ray systems, PROVOTEC’s product range stands out by also being able to supply generator-independent single components of high quality.
The main focus is on the following products:
- stationary installed tables for patients (optionally with height adjustment)
- mobile x-ray tables (optionally with height adjustment and rechargeable battery operation)
- Buckys for cassette-systems (for conventional cassettes and CR-cassettes)
The following information is especially interesting for everyone interested in DR-flatpanels:
- „Detector trays („digital“ Buckys) in various versions that make simple retrofitting of DR-flatpanels to an existing x-ray unit possible (for further flatpanel models; other Bucky versions are presently being worked on. They will fit for other brands, too

PROTEC acquires majority shareholding of PROVOTEC |

| It is our pleasure to inform you that PROTEC GmbH & Co. KG – medical systems - in Oberstenfeld has acquired the majority shareholding of PROVOTEC GmbH in Espelkamp.
By taking this step, we will be able to continuously strengthen our position in the world-wide market for medical imaging systems. In the future we will be able to offer complete x-ray systems for the digital direct radiography sector including x-ray generators, x-ray tubes, bucky tables, detectors and image acquisition software. Of course, we will also include complete analogue systems in our product range.
PROVOTEC GmbH in Espelkamp (North Rhine-Westphalia - Germany) was founded in 1998. After the former US manufacturer Picker stopped its European business activities, a group of experienced employees acquired the product rights. This ensured the supply of spare parts for older Picker x-ray systems and gave them the opportunity to develop and sell their own high-quality x-ray systems.
